important functions. Since its founding, NCHE has
Built awareness
through extensive participation in official and voluntary select
committees and study groups;
Authored guest editorials and original articles in professional
and trade journals;
Promoted the need for health education with representatives
of foundations, corporations, school systems, voluntary agencies,
organized labor, health departments, professional associations,
foreign governments, universities, and the media;and
Given presentations at meetings and conferences including those
sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
American School Health Association, Association for Supervision
and Curriculum Development, National Science Teachers Association,
and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
